Shrews top 5 of 2015

Shrew here, this will be my first post. As a new year I promise to update more often. So here we go.

#5 Best Card Game

Yu-GI-Oh Legacy of the Duelist

I was worried when I picked this game up, “another crappy knockoff game that they pushed out” is what I thought. But i was pleasantly surprised as I booted up the game. This game has each story built into it. YuGiOH, GX, 5D’s, Zexal, and ARC-V, each one with the deck of nearly all main characters and the progressions of the decks throughout the campaign.

With over 20 duels in each campaign it was a real test of battle strategy.  But the game goes deeper when you create your own decks and battle online. If you like Yu-Gi-Oh, card games, strategy. Get this game.

#4 Best Horror

Until Dawn

One of the best games to come out this year, Until Dawn. A game where anyone and everyone can die if you so choose, the game puts your actions into account where every choice has a consequence. I never felt a dull moment in that game, to best describe it i would say its an interactive horror movie and anyone who’s played it would agree.

If you like movies, teen drama, just the overall ambient feeling of what the crap is going on in this god forsaken universe how do i survive. Get this game.

#3 Best FPS

Destiny – The Taken King

Last year I got Destiny, but I didn’t get too far, I hit the level cap and that was about it. But with this new expansion it finally feels like a real game. Tons of weapons, armor, and quests. Nothing more you need out of a good FPS.

#2 Best RPG

Bloodbourne

Bloodbourne, a game of blood starved beasts seeking to destroy you. During any point of the game any enemy can kill you at any point of the adventure, if your not careful. The hardest game made this year, made my the makers of the souls series, a ps4 exclusive Bloodbourne.

This game beat me into the ground time and time again, if it wasn’t for the help of the community helping me to defeat the bosses, and progress through each level I never could have beat that game. A true test of strength and willpower. It is possible, but at many times throughout the adventure it doesn’t feel that way.

But in the end when you finally defeat that boss that killed you time and time and time and time again, the feeling of achievement that you get is like nothing you’ve felt in any other game. And it happens a lot. If you like a challenge, a game based more on skill than leveling and equipment, and just a great RPG. Get this Game.

#1 Best Competitive multiplayer

Rocket League

I haven’t spent more time on a game this year than Rocket League. An amazing game where you play soccer with little rc cars, going around the track picking up boost. Using that boost to fly through the air, destroy the other vehicles, flip forwards backwards side to side, all in the attempt to score a goal. This game shines with the persecution of its controls and the easiness of learning them. I’ve heard it say that this game takes one 5 minute match to learn but a lifetime to master. But such an amazing game.

This is the only game that I’ve gotten a platinum trophy with, and if that doesn’t say anything then I don’t know what will. If you like competitive multiplayers, soccer, Mario cart, or just a game to play with friends. Get this game.

How about something new???

tgod ds2Visit: geekbeerzdschronicles.blogspot.com

keep in mind that the site is still under construction…

Theme for April:

There are a lot of games coming out this month. Players this month can get a nicely remastered and updated next gen copy of Dark Souls II (perfect for those Xbox One players who were unable to get Bloodborne), Broken Age act two, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, and many more.

However, we can all agree that Mortal Kombat X is the one, non-remastered and re-released game, that everybody is aware of, therefore it will be our theme for April!

Mortal Kombat X comes out April 14th  for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and 360…

Upcoming GeekBeerz events!

We are back guys and we have loads of new things planned to keep you guys all entertained. While not visually shown or mentioned, we have been discussing behind the scenes about the future of the website, what to do next, how to keep on living and keeping the interests of people.

Well now we have that plan, or should I say plan”S”.

NEW LOGO/TEASER

GB official

Still in development

We normally develop a new logo design once a year. This act of change was simply just tradition amongst us, similar to how we changed themes on our old blogger website. However, our ultimate plan now is to develop an outstanding logo design that will triumph for years to come!

As you can see above, we a playing around with this idea of a liquid drop design with the “GB” initials within it. This design would come with a phrase (to keep the phrase safe, we will not be mentioning it right now).

NEW PODCAST SERIES!

TAGCAST

In Development

When we ended our GBP podcast series, it wasn’t to be done with podcast’s for good. We actually kind of miss the old days of just sitting around and discussing games and other things in the media. So we decided we would soon return, but return in a new and better form.

We just recently got new equipment and our recording laptop has been recently fixed. I and everyone else cannot promise a time or date of when we’ll be uploading the first episode in the series, but expect it soon.

TAYLOR GAMES OR DIE CONTINUES!

TGOD 3Taylor has been beaten, destroyed, tortured, and scarred since the last Taylor Games Or Die episode, which is why it sort of died for a while. But the good news is that he’s still alive.

To be more precise, he is going into surgery for his shoulders, elbows and knees. He also has a recent heart condition that may or may not be of major concern (yes, we are aware that the world hates Taylor). So as you can imagine, he has been a little down lately. Fortunately he is willing to continue making videos whenever he can! And expect him to appear on the podcast as well.

Episode three was originally planned to be a three-part Infamous: Second Son run, however we realized that the game doesn’t qualify under our “Games Taylor Wouldn’t Normally Play” category. So now episode three will be a start of a two-part Octodad: Dadliest Catch run.

Expect episode three later today!

OUR WEEKLY MARATHON EVENTS!

We have plans to do weekly events that are each different and could last from a week to four weeks! We only have a few planned currently:

THE MCU MARATHON WEEK: here we watch all movies part of Marvel Studio’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, We start with Iron Man on a Monday, and end with Captain America: the Winter Soldier or Guardians of the Galaxy on the following week. A movie per day with an added impressions recording by Geoff, giving his opinions on each individual film.

THE HORRIBLE FILM MARATHON WEEK: as it is clearly mentioned, here we will be watching the six worst films we know, Monday to Saturday, starting with the not too bad and ending on the worst one of the six. Movies consist of bad films like the Last Airbender, Catwoman, and even Birdemic.

MASS EFFECT WEEKLY MARATHON: this one will definitely last more than a week. We play through all three Mass Effect games, beginning to end, with our own uniquely created character.

RESISTANCE WEEKLY MARATHON: currently already in the process, we will be playing through all three Resistance games, beginning to end.

Thanks to whoever reads this. This was simply just an update post but hopefully everyone understands and expect great things to come!

the Top 5 Characters to be excited about in this year’s summer films!

Every year around summer we are greeted with a platoon of new films, among other summer-y things. While the new films mostly consists of superhero flicks or straight up action films, you can’t help but get overly excited with what new eye candy awaits! Read the rest of this entry

Tom is Here!

It took freaking long. But now Tom is here to make sure Geoff is not alone no more!

It sucks when the internal battery to your laptop fries and you have to wait forever to get things fixed but things on this site should start to progress smoothly very soon…

Things Are Taking Longer Than Expected…

Well, this is embarrassing… With our whole staff involved with school and finals coming up quickly, we haven’t really been able to get together to record a new episode. This will still be happening, it may just be a little farther out than expected. In the meantime, I’ll be posting our old episodes to Youtube just for the convenience of not having to download anything.

Some things going on planning wise, we’re planning on having a final Geek Beerz Podcast episode. This will NOT be our final episode ever, just the final episode with the old name. I’ll post that episode to our old blogger, then when I get actual podcast hosting, that will be when we start (hopefully) cranking these out every other week at the latest. Anyway, for now we are in a hiatus until we find time to record that episode, then we’ll go from there.

Our Youtube link is up at the top, so you can find us there. As for the old blog, the main is here, and the link for our podcast blog (episodes only) is here. Thank you so much for sticking with us during this time, and I hope you enjoy our podcast both old episodes and new.

Welcome!

Welcome everyone! If you found this from our old site you are an amazing person. If you found this any other way, then how are you here?!? We’ve got some great things coming so stay tuned!
