GBHorror2017: Top 5 Snakes
Welcome back to another Halloween post, and yet another top five as well! This time we’ll be looking at the coolest types of snakes from the various parts of the world. Unlike the last top five involving spiders, we’ll be tackling this one in a completely different and more entertaining method. Hope it’s as enjoyable as the spider one.
SPITTING COBRAS
FOUND IN:
African and Asian regions
# OF SPECIES:
15 or more
VENOM EFFECT:
harmless to mammalian skin, but lethal to eyes which can cause blindness! Can cause chemosis and corneal swelling.
BLACK MAMBAS
FOUND IN:
African region (sub-saharan)
# OF SPECIES:
4 main mamba species, only one famously known black mamba type
VENOM EFFECT:
venom is extremely toxic and harmful. Collapse occurs within 45 minutes or less, then death within 7-15 hours. Before an antitoxin was discovered, death from a bite was one-hundred percent guaranteed.
PIT VIPERS
FOUND IN:
Asian and even American regions
# OF SPECIES:
a subspecies group of 18 or more species
VENOM EFFECT:
victim will feel pain in an extreme manner for at least twenty-four hours, the flesh of the wound will die and turn black!
DIAMONDBACK RATTLESNAKES
FOUND IN:
American and Mexican regions
# OF SPECIES:
one family similar to the pit viper subspecies (actually part of the same family), but with many common names (western diamondback, adobe snake, texas-diamondback, etc.)
VENOM EFFECT:
uses its venom to disable prey, while not as toxic as other rattlesnake species it has larger venom glands to inject loads more within its victim.
SEA KRAITS
FOUND IN:
warmer waters of the Pacific Ocean
# OF SPECIES:
one which either have a black and white or blue and black/white coloring
VENOM EFFECT:
effect takes claim within at least three hours, symptoms such as muscle pain, thick tongue and droopy eye lids will occur.
