Top 6 Pokemon Special: Dark Type
Continuing our Top 6 Pokemon lists for our Halloween night, we move quickly ahead to the Dark types. Dark type is one of the coolest types out there, it just makes you think evil and vicious which fits perfectly with our holiday!
NOTICE:
1. our “type” top 6’s will NOT include any starters or legendaries. This is due to those specific Pokemon being obvious choices, we will use them for certain top 6’s in the future
2. this list will mostly go by personal favorites either by childhood nostalgia or from which ones we liked from the games. However some stats, abilities, etc. could be mentioned here or there.
3. This list is a bit PERSONAL to either the post writer or all of GeekBeerz,do not be in any way mad if your favorite didn’t make the list or whatever. In short: Don’t overreact bro, this is just for fun!
4. This list isn’t in any “best or worst” lineup, and one isn’t necessarily better or worse over another, they are all equally fair in these lists
SNEASEL
Instant classic and instant love at first sight! This little devilish frozen weasel is worthy of being among the first Dark types in history.
Sneasel was supposedly originally planned for generation one, among many others, but was taken out due to getting the game out on time. Fortunately all these Pokemon taken out now exist within the second generation. Ok, without getting off topic, Sneasel is just a fun Pokemon. The design is just incredible and the colors just mash up super well. She is a beauty that cannot be entirely trusted, due to being part Dark. She is also part Ice type which means she can also be cold and cruel. Despite all this we still love this creature to death.
TYRANITAR
Godzilla!!!
Well, we like to think that it is basically Godzilla. Tyranitar was pretty much the Dragonite of generation two, the big evolution chain guy that everyone wanted to obtain by the end of the games. You probably wouldn’t even think of one of its typings being Dark, but he totally is.
And as for the mega, we like to think that his mega is homage to space Godzilla because… well… Because we’re geeks.
SABLEYE
Look at this creepy little freakazoid! He’s so rich in style that his eyes only see fortune.
This guy is a Dark and Ghost type, which means he’s not only a paranormal entity of supernatural powers but he’s also demonic and evil. He’s like the representation of Gollum within the poke-verse, he lives in caves and is pretty much a trickster. Sableye even represents his home with his back holding a Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald gem. His unique design helps to benefit both his ghostly attributes and his dark secrecy.
Also, his mega really likes to show off his wealth and fortune.
ZOROARK
As Geoff would put it: “He’s Awesome, he’s just so Awesome!”
Zoroark came out within the fifth generation, which is arguably the weaker generation for reasons. Some people pretty much expected this guy to be the rip off of Lucario from the previous generation. But actual smart people know that this guy is not a rip off, and is “so awesome”.
He has the ability to take form of a Pokemon from an opponents party, which can definitely throw anyone off. He is also a pure Dark type which makes him more than worthy of this list. Can we also talk about the design? His human like fox design helps portray the idea of a monster fox pretty well.
MIGHTYENA
The perfect dog companion for an adventure in Hoenn.
When you start off an adventure in any of the regions, you usually have to deal with the typically simple first encounter Pokemon, sometimes they can be cool (Pidgeot, Ratticate, Noctowl) but othertimes they are not (Bidoof). Fortunately in the Hoenn region these first encounters are worth it, Poochyena is one of these. poochyena will of course evolve into the mighty Mightyena. This is also another pure Dark type.
ABSOL
He warns of the disaster, then brings it himself!
Absol is not only an incredible Pokemon, by both design and characteristics, but he also has history with most of us here on GeekBeerz. Two of us have gone through and beaten the elite four with the help of this beast, and one of us has the very same Absol still at level 100. Another great dog-like companion to have.
His mega form is a thing of beauty. He looks like an angel, but due to the holiday and typing we can assume he is an angel of chaos.

I love Sneasel/Weavile and think Absol has awesome lore behind it. Another one of my favorite Dark-types is definitely Hydreigon. Three-headed Dark-type demon dragon? Yes, please, I want one of those on my side!!
